How Do They Do it for FREE? |
It's the business model of the 00's: advertiser supported service. You are forced to watch ads if you want continue using the
service. TV & radio have been doing it for decades. :) |
|
How does it compare to paid Internet access? |
Since it's free, these types of services are usually overwhelmed with users, and as a result, your connection
will probably be a little slower (but still entirely acceptable) compared to a paid service. You'll also probably experience more busy signals (this can depend on your location). Oh, and tech
support will probably keep you on hold a while. And finally some don't necessarily provide POP email or newsgroup access. But guess what - it's free! Heck, try it out and if something really bugs you, cancel
- duh. |
My surfing is really slow - can I speed it up? |
The best way to speed up your surfing is to get a 56k modem. 28.8's just don't cut it anymore. Before
you spend cash on a modem though, you can try a caching service. This service can double your surfing speeds by getting often-accessed elements from cache instead of re-downloading them. If all that
sounds like mumbo-jumbo, don't worry, you don't need to know how it works. Just try it: Netsonic |
